Reflecting on my predictions for 2023 – Hits and Misses!

Now that we’ve had our share of crystal ball gazing in 2023, let’s break it down – the hits and the misses. It’s one thing to make predictions, it’s another to come close!

Hits –

1. 2023 – A Year of Convergence

The crystal ball didn’t let us down when I predicted that 2023 would be the year of convergence. Fast forward to now, and the industry is already witnessing convergence happening around data across Operational silos – Observability, Security, and Networking as the Cisco Observability Platform went GA in 2023.

2. Low Code / No Code Platform for Data Automation and Data Quality

My second prediction which talks more about the necessity of Low Code platforms for Data Automation has come live with CloudFabrix announcing its GenAI assistant and Data Fabric for Observability, Data Integration, Automation, and Data Quality.

3. Decoupling Data Producers from Data Consumers – Observability Pipelines

Gartner announced the Telemetry pipelines market category at the recent Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference (IOCS). We’d like to highlight the session by Gregg Siegfried, VP Research Analyst at Gartner – “Use Telemetry Pipelines to Effectively Monitor Your Hybrid Environments”. The report talked about using Telemetry Pipelines to solve various challenges faced in the Hybrid Deployments and also included CloudFabrix as one of the key players in the segment.

4. Data-centric AIOps – Adaptive AI

As the digital landscape reshapes itself, we’re witnessing a surge in vendors jumping on the bandwagon, embracing Generative AI. CloudFabrix has adopted Gen AI in its Data-Centric AIOps and it has been featured as one of the AIOps vendors leveraging GenAI in its “Sample Listing of I&O vendors implementing Generative AI”.

5. Enrichment – Context is the King!

Gartner announced Applied Observability where the context becomes extremely important and DataFabric plays a key role to generate this context. CloudFabrix’s  vSphere Observability, SAP Observability and Campus Analytics modules are examples of this category. Learn more

6. Composable Analytics for Self-Service personas and Platform Engg. Teams

Composable Analytics provides an end-to-end control plane where different IT teams can conduct management, observability and automated deployment in a form that matches the flexible nature of these hybrid IT environments, as well as the people responsible for them. As there’s an increase in the number of hybrid deployments the need for Composable Analytics has become more important than ever.

Misses –

I missed out on the ChatGPT and GenAI trend. On Nov’30’22 OpenAI had announced ChatGPT and in March 23 it opened up for developers. Though Conversational AI has not been new, ChatGPT democratized LLM and GenAI. No one had any idea, it would become so big. We quickly caught up on this trend and released our 1st GenAI assistant Macaw in June, based on Data Fabric for GenAI!
